Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – 1 Death, 288 confirmed Cases in Illinois, IDOT/SOS Relief, SOCMA Webinar, DHS/FEMA Conference Calls on Supply Chain
|
As of 5 pm this afternoon, the Illinois Dept. of Public Health is still reporting one death of a Chicago area woman out of over 288 now-confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Illinois, an increase of 128 from this morning. You can see where these cases are at through the Illinois Depart. of Public Health’s COVID 19 Illinois Map. Madison and Kendall Counties have been added to the locations bringing the total number of counties to 17.
Overweight Truck Permits - Today, Governor Pritzker issued another emergency declaration effective through April 12, enabling haulers to get free IDOT overweight trucking permits for the movement of emergency relief supplies. Operators are required to carry a copy of the order and waiver, which can be found at https://webapps.dot.illinois.gov/ITAP. The order does not apply to posted bridges and local highways with special and seasonal weight restrictions. Haulers can use www.GettingAroundIllinois.com to determine if their routes are free of size and weight restrictions. The order also provides relief for those whose license or vehicle registrations are expiring as Illinois Secretary of State’s Department of Motor Vehicle Services have shuttered their facilities.
Public & Private Gatherings - Also, as you know, Governor Pritzker issued a proclamation banning, beginning March 18, 2020, public and private gatherings in the state of Illinois of 50 people or more for the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE MANUFACTURING FACILITIES OR SUPPLY CHAIN DISTRIBUTION. It also does not include venues such as grocery stores, hospitals, pharmacies, gas stations, banks, credit unions, shelters, etc.
We feel it is crucial that the decision makers in this state and country understand the important role which the chemical industry has in providing the necessary products which will be key in reducing the spread of Covid-19. To that end, CICI has compiled a list of products and processes from our members which are vital to combat the spread of this outbreak. This list was shared with the Pritzker Administration and public health & environmental officials yesterday.

SOCMA Seminars: One of CICI’s sister associations at the federal level, the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA) will be hosting webinars which can be shared across the specialty and fine chemical value chain. These webinars are open to CICI members. The first webinar will be this Friday, March 20, and will cover key legal themes for employers to keep in mind as they mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and implications of quarantine on operations. This 30-minute webinar will address questions with regard to unionized and exempt workforces, OSHA compliance, healthcare, and more.
