Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – Employer Letter for Essential Personnel, New State Website
|
Employer Letter for Essential Personnel - Shelter-in-Place Order. As you know, Governor Pritzker yesterday issued this Shelter-in-Place order for the state of Illinois to begin today at 5:00 pm, continuing until at least April 7.
The order does allow “Essential Critical Workers” to remain on the job. The order includes jobs specific to Chemicals, Transportation & Logistics, Critical Manufacturing, Energy, Water & Wastewater, and Hazardous Materials. The sections in the order which would cover our members are listed under 7, 9, and 12 (n) and (t).
As has occurred in other countries and some states in the US, a number of CICI members are issuing their “Essential Personnel” a letter similar to the attached draft letter.
Please see the attached draft letter as an example which can be given to your Essential Personnel. Please change as you see fit and review with your legal counsel. The letter is intended to assist your Essential Personnel if they’re stopped or questioned about their travel to the respective positions.
New Covid-19 website for state of Illinois: In addition, the state of Illinois has a new website up and running updating the number of cases and their localities, and also includes a list of FAQ’s. The new site is here: COVID-19.
CICI will be updating the membership later on today after the governor’s daily press conference at 3 pm.
